AYR

Race 6 No9 AYR POET (Nap)
Trainer: Jim Goldie – Jockey: William Pyle

It might pay to wait for the tail of this card for a bet, with AYR POET one that jumps off the page in this race in which the veteran and course specialist is getting weight from everything else in the field. He signalled that he’s ready to claim a first win in almost a year when beaten a whisker here last week.

CARTMEL

Race 1 No2 DULEEK STREET (Nap)
Trainer: John McCnnell – Jockey: Ben Harvey

Irish invader DULEEK STREET holds the cards for a trainer running at a 33 per cent strike-rate with his runners in Britain. The Nap has earned on each of his three starts over jumps and emerges from a readying run on the Flat at Bellewstown. Further to his chance is the exceptional Harvey taking 3lb off his back.

Race 5 No5 CROAGH PATRICK
Trainer: Sam England – Jockey: Jonathan England

For sheer consistency CROAGH PATRICK deserves a change of luck. He’s finished second in five of his last seven outings including when chasing home Jelski over course and distance last time. Given the rub of the green he can make this is first success of the summer season.

Race 6 No4 EDMUND DANTES
Trainer: Barry Murtagh – Jockey: Lorcan Murtagh

Fresh from a wind operation, EDMUND DANTES put in a pleasing earning run at Hexham that suggests he can return to the good level of form shown in his career on the Flat. He’s been in racing’s wilderness, but from the same mark can make this a belated first success over jumps.

BEVERLEY

Race 1 No11 MECCA’S DUCHESS (Each Way)
Trainer: Michael Dods – Jockey: Connor Beasley

Dark Angel filly MECCA’S DUCHESS is bred to be quick and after a couple of readying runs including when taking away a minor cheque at this track, can bring her A-game to the table. She has a good draw, and can prove a value option to paper favourite Tan Rapido.

Race 3 No1 RHOSCOLYN
Trainer: David O’Meara – Jockey: David Nolan

As the best horse in this Class4 handicap, RHOSCOLYN has to concede plenty of weight to his foes. His connections have elected for a class drop to try to rekindle his waning spirit. He’s a risky proposition, but if in the mood he can get into the shake-up.

Race 4 No4 REVOQUABLE (Nap)
Trainer: Tim Easterby- Jockey: David Allan

REVOQUABLE has the rail which can be a fair advantage for races run round a right-handed bend into the home straight, as this one is. Having scored for the first time since last autumn over course and distance earlier in the month, he’s in the mood to add to his laurels for a stable running into form.

WINDSOR

Race 2 No4 MAGIC LIGHT
Trainer: Richard Hannon – Jockey: Tom Marquand

Dandy Man filly MAGIC LIGHT brings experience of this course to the table having chased home the odds-on Watch My Tracer last week. On this third outing of the month and with Marquand reuniting with his old boss she can thwart the similarly well-equipped Beveragino.

Race 3 No10 ALBANY
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Ron Hornby

ALBANY went down in a blanket finish when third on seasonal reappearance at Kempton to show she had progressed from her only juvenile start. The daughter of Lope De Vega should go further forward on this first outing on turf, and can get the better of Paternoster Square.

Race 5 No6 ZARGA (Nap)
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Richard Kingscote

ZARGA has shaped well on both outings this season, looking unlucky when coming from an impossible position turning in at Nottingham and then running into a well treated rival in Spring Fever at Redcar. The grey has enjoyed a freshening break, went well in her winding up gallop for this and can open her account.
