LINGFIELD PARK

Race 7 No3 ALPINE GIRL (Nap)
Trainer: James Fanshawe – Jockey: Benoit De La Sayette

ALPINE GIRL made it a winning first visit to this course when taking out a similar race two weeks ago. It was the first time De La Sayette had ridden her, and has provided a confidence boost to take her forward to a follow-up success as the only bet on this card.

WOLVERHAMPTON

Race 3 No7 PERSIAN PHOENIX (Nap)
Trainer: Charlie Johnston – Jockey: Franny Norton

This novice can go the filly PERSIAN PHOENIX, who was compromised by having to navigate round rivals and finished nest of all on her all-weather debut at Chelmsford. Ultimately beaten a head by Lady Of Sardinia, she again needs to overcome a wide berth, but in this relatively small field that is achievable.

Race 7 No1 STONKING
Trainer: Heather Main – Jockey: PJ McDonald

STONKING has fewer miles on his racing clock than his opponents in this long-distance handicap. Having opened his account over a mile and a half here last November, he can score on this handicap debut for a trainer who does well with this type of individual.

CARLISLE

Race 4 No6 OPTICIAN
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan

OPTICIAN was a 25-1 shot when troubling the judge at Wetherby to show a first glimmer of form since his debut at this time last year. The Expert Eye gelding needs to make further progress if he’s to take the spoils, but is a lively candidate to do that.

Race 6 No4 PLATINUM GIRL (Nap)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: Sean Kirrane

PLATINUM GIRL can make it a good day for Easterby by adding to her laurels in this sprint handicap. The Ardad filly has been in great form this year with a win and two seconds, and will benefit from the 3lb claim of her capable apprentice pilot.

NOTTINGHAM

Race 1 No3 LADY WULFRUNA (Nap)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: Harry Davies

LADY WULFRUN can prove an appropriate choice by taking the spoils in the colours of The King two days after his birthday. The daughter of Saxon Warrior finished fourth in a race started by flag at Windsor last week, where she stayed on nicely to claim a minor cheque. That makes her the form pick, and on this third career start she’s ready to deliver.

Race 4 No12 THE GO TO (Each Way)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: Duran Fentiman

THE GO TO produced her best form when third at Redcar last autumn, and though beaten a long way on handicap debut at the same track is one that can improve, although she does need to be monitored in the betting, and is a speculative pick for this bottom of the ladder affair.

WINDSOR

Race 3 No2 GOLDSBOROUGH (Nap)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: David Probert

GOLDSBOROUGH to beat Royal Mila is the way this restricted novice stakes should pan out. The selection scored on the same day as his foe at Goodwood when powering clear of Bishop’s Crown on heavy ground. Underfoot conditions are likely to be a lot different this evening, but he’s well-regarded and can make it back-to-back successes.

Race 4 No1 CHAIRMANOFTHEBOARD (Each Way)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Rob Hornby

CHAIRMANOFTHEBOARD makes a visit to this track where he’s a previous winner rather than tackling the Wokingham at Ascot later in the week. If able to run up to the level that saw him earn at both the Craven and Guineas meetings at Newmarket the seven-year-old will put in another big earning run, with conditions ideal.

Race 5 No4 BETWEENTHESTICKS (Each Way)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Rose Dawes

BETWEENTHESTICKS tried to match the pace in one of the ‘ Dash’ races at Epsom but was a spent force soon after halfway. He’s now in calmer waters, and can return to the level of form that saw Dawes score twice on him within the space of a week last October.

Race 6 No15 ISLAND KING (Each Way)
Trainer: Heather Main – Jockey: Ray Dawson

ISLAND KING wasn’t beaten that far when beating only one home in a Brighton novice and is running off a featherweight for this handicap bow. His trainer has a knack of getting this type of horse to improve for the switch, and he is worth a small speculative bet.
