5 Sept 2022 – Daniel Muscutt rides two at Newcastle on Monday evening and talks to Neil Morrice about the chances of each horse.

Daniel is in action at the Racing League fixture of Newcastle this evening and feels he has a couple of live chances with NOVEL LEGEND and DIAMOND BAY.

17:30 Newcastle – 5 Sept 2022

NOVEL LEGEND is likely to head the market for the first on the card at Newcastle – a handicap over a mile and a half.

The lightly-raced Nathaniel gelding put in a career best when second to Dark Mystery at Newbury and his pilot commented: “He got his act together with an improved effort at Newbury where the steady pace wouldn’t have suited him.

“Should they go more of a gallop on Monday it will benefit him, and he should go well.”

19:00 Newcastle – 5 Sept 2022

Daniel’s mount in the fourth race on the card at Newcastle is top weighted DIAMOND BAY of whom he also speaks with enthusiasm.

He added: “I don’t think he had too hard a race when winning at Lingfield last month, which was fully deserved after a run of frame finishes.

“If he’s in the same form he should give another good account, in a race that’s cut up.”

WILLEM TWEE was easy to back before his race at Ascot on Saturday, drifting from odds-on to 11-4.

Daniel thinks it’s best to forget the colt’s 7th place finish behind Lethal Nymph, reasoning: “We were soon in a good position but as soon as the race started to develop he was in trouble and it was probably because of the cut in the ground which he’d never experienced before.

“He didn’t feel comfortable on it, and I think it’s best to draw a line through the form.”

ROCKET RODNEY was according to Daniel feeling the effects of a busy time on the track when finishing out of the money in the Group 3 at Longchamp last week.
