SALISBURY
Race 1 No4 MUKTAMIL (Nap)
Trainer: Marcus Tregoning – Jockey: Jim Crowley
MUKTAMIL ran a fine race to trouble the judge at Newbury considering how worked up he became in the paddock. The son of Sea The Stars was beaten only just over two lengths by Afterlife, and that second outing gives him an experience edge on his foes.
Race 3 No6 OBAMA ARMY (Each Way)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Dane O’Neill
This could easily fall to one of the newcomers, of whom OBAMA ARMY has worked with promise and could represent a viable and better value alternative to hot favourite Bresson. He will run green but could run into the money in what will be an educational experience for him.
Race 4 No11 SECRET SOLACE
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Jim Crowley
SECRET SOLACE troubled the judge as an unconsidered 50-1 shot on debut at Newbury, in the race won by Crystallium. It looked a warm race, and my selection should be much more the finished article as she takes on some eye-taking newcomers, of whom Time’s Eye and Greek Order are worthy of a market check.
Race 5 No1 LEGEND OF XANADU (Each Way)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Tom Marquand
The sharpening effects of a visor can motivate LEGEND OF XANADU to spring a minor surprise in this conditions race. While his form dipped at Doncaster last time, he’d previously been unlucky in running in a hot nursery at York. He’s a speedy individual, and if getting a smart break could prove hard to peg back.
WARWICK
Race 2 No2 ITSO FURY
Trainer: Jonjo O’Neill – Jockey: Jonjo O’Neill Jr
ITSO FURY placed in his three outings in bumpers after joining Jackdaw’s Castle from Ireland. He was unfortunate to run into a couple of decent foes after attracting plenty of support at Kempton and Southwell. He’s been well prepared for this switch to hurdles, and will not lack for anything in the fitness department.
LINGFIELD PARK
Race 1 No5 SONNERIE POWER
Trainer: Roger Varian – Jockey: Jack Mitchell
In obtaining a mark for this first run in a handicap SONNERIE POWER has shown ability, earning in two of those three outings. He’s a fascinating runner from a stable that can do little wrong, and with so few miles on his racing clock will surely have more to offer.
Race 2 No9 CLASSIC ORDER (Nap)
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Hector Crouch
Though thumped with a 9lb rise for his emphatic Kempton success a fortnight ago, CLASSIC ORDER makes plenty of appeal in his bid to follow-up. He left previous efforts well behind on that first nursery appearance and it’s anyone’s guess how much the gelding had up his sleeve. He’s well drawn in this contest round a left-handed bend, while he remains on the Polytrack surface.
CHELMSFORD CITY
Race 4 No9 MAIDEN’S GREEN
Trainer: Charlie Hills – Jockey: Rossa Ryan
Oasis Dream filly MAIDEN’S GREEN returns from a mid-season break and is hard to weigh up, though two of her three starts have resulted in her taking away a cheque. She’s up against a handful of rivals that might have more street cred, but she’s the one that could leave previous form behind now she’s been sent down the handicap route.
Race 7 No11 FRANCESI
Trainer: Sean Woods – Jockey: Andrea Atzeni
FARNCESI will soon get a handy position in this big field if his pilot is alert when the gates open. From his berth against the rail that’s very important, and could set the Caravaggio colt up for a big run. Though something was clearly amiss with him at Nottingham last time, a repeat of his previous effort at this track would put him firmly in the mix.
WOLVERHAMPTON
Race 5 No1 GOLDEN SHOT ( Nap)
Trainer: Sir a mark Prescott – Jockey: Luke Morris
GOLDEN SHOT looked a different horse when returning to action over a distance twice that he encountered in four outings as a juvenile. Strong in the market, he was equally so in the race and came home unchallenged. When this type of individual gets on a roll out of Heath House they are difficult to oppose, and he should have no trouble following up.
Race 6 No2 HASHTAGMETOO
Trainer: Jamie Osborne – Jockey: Paul Mulrennan
HASTAGMETOO experienced a rare blip when failing to fire at Goodwood three weeks ago, but the mare hadn’t done much wrong with earning efforts in each of her other six starts this season. Back on Polytrack, she can make that valuable experience pay dividends against younger rivals.
