AYR – 27/09/2022
Race 5: FLYING PURSUIT (Each Way)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan
The ground is coming right for infrequent winner FLYING PURSUIT to put his best foot forward. Though without a win for well over a year the gelding signalled with earning runs at this course and Ripon that he’s on the cusp of a revival now back at seven furlongs.
Race 7: FIRST IMPRESSION (Nap)
Trainer: John Quinn – Jockey: Jason Hart
FIRST IMPRESSION makes plenty of sense for this mile and a quarter handicap dropped two rungs down the class ladder into a Class4. He earned in a better race over course and distance last time, having also troubled the judge at York. Those back-to-back efforts following a break suggest he will be winning soon.
SEDGEFIELD – 27/09/2022
Race 1: MY LITTLE TONI (Each Way)
Trainer: Donald McCain Jnr – Jockey: Theo Gillard
Kayf Tara filly MY LITTLE TONI smoothly landed the odds in a novices’ handicap hurdle over course and distance, and though facing a stiffer task can follow-up off her revised mark. Both her trainer and jockey have made a cracking start to the season.
Race 4: GREY MARKET (Nap)
Trainer: John McConnell – Jockey: Henry Brooke
Sizing Mauritius will command plenty of respect in the market after transferring from a top stable in Ireland, but might be pressed to cope with GREY MARKET, who after a narrow defeat on debut under Rules at Perth made no mistake when coming home unchallenged at Hexham.
SOUTHWELL – 27/09/2022
Race 1: GO AS YOU PLEASE
Trainer: Paul Webber – Jockey: Richie McLernon
GO AS YOU PLEASE tends to run best after a break, and following a near miss at Market Rasen returns to the fray after a two and a half month gap. He faces stern competition from Chess Player, but many of the others in the field are badly out of form.
Race 3: TEN PAST MIDNIGHT (Nap)
Trainer: Martin Keighley – Jockey: Sean Bowen
The best bet on the card is TEN PAST MIDNIGHT, whose trainer and jockey are in the process of forming a bountiful alliance. The Nap has earned in all four of his outings during the summer, winning here in a first time visor in early June and then placing in three visits to Uttoxeter. He looks more likely to reproduce his form than Fantomas, a lucky winner on his latest start.
Race 4: NEVERBEEN TO PARIS (Each Way)
Trainer: Pat Murphy – Jockey: Harry Bannister
NEVERBEEN TO PARIS is proving a useful dual purpose purchase for his veteran handler and needs respecting with a sharpener on the Flat behind him, in which he finished second at Wolverhampton. He found his best form over jumps at around this time last season.
WOLVERHAMPTON – 27/09/2022
Race 4: GRAND CRU GAGA (Nap)
Trainer: Paul Cole – Jockey: Mohammed Tabti
Clodovil filly GRAND CRU GAGA was most impressive in getting off the mark at Ffos Las, and though bred to enjoy the cut in the ground through the autumn should handle this return to the all-weather and follow-upon her handicap debut.
Race 5: MAN MADE OF SMOKE
Trainer: David Evans – Jockey: David Probert
MAN MADE OF SMOKE is no star and it was in a humble seller that he finished second here last time. However, he now finds himself in one of the weaker nurseries run at Dunstall Park this season, and also over a suitably longer trip which can spur him to open his account.
Race 6: MILLTOWN STAR (Each Way)
Trainer: Jamie Osborne – Jockey: Saffie Osborne
MILLTOWN STAR has made gradual progression since joining his new stable. His earning efforts at Epsom and Kempton read well in the contest of this race, and interestingly this is the track at which he broke his maiden over three years ago.
