23/11/2021 – Tuesday’s Racing Tips

23/11/2021

Neil Morrice provides his best bets and tips for today’s racing at Sedgefield, Southwell and Wolverhampton.

SEDGEFIELD – 23/11/2021

Race 2 No1 KAPHUMOR (Nap)
Trainer: Sue Smith – Jockey: Thomas Willmott

KAPHUMOR could not have made a more pleasing debut for this yard when outstaying his foes at Hexham under today’s pilot. Now that the penny has dropped he should prove hard to beat in his follow-up attempt.

Race 5 No3 AIRE VALLEY LAD
Trainer: Sue Smith – Jockey: Ryan Mania

AIRE VALLEY LAD can contribute to a good day for Smith team by taking out this novices’ handicap chase. His form had been underwhelming before he returned from a five month break to pick up a cheque at Hexham, and that should have primed him for this weakly-contested affair.

SOUTHWELL – 23/11/2021

Race 5 No8 MOIDORE (Each Way)
Trainer: Charles Pogson – Jockey: Tabitha Worsley

A value bet could be MOIDORE, who is carded to go off at a big double figure price in this handicap hurdle. Key to his chance is that he’s taken home a cheque on all but one of his visits to this course, and wasn’t beaten far behind Imphal at Huntingdon last week.

Race 7 No4 GAVIN (Nap)
Trainer: Joe Ponting – Jockey: Danny Burton

GAVIN rocked up by a wide margin when a 33-1 ‘no hoper’ at Uttoxeter last time. It was only the gelding’s fifth outing over jumps, and first in handicap company. Taken at face value it gives him a good chance of following-up, and I think he can show it wasn’t a fluke.

WOLVERHAMPTON – 23/11/2021

Race 4 No9 NIZAAKA (Nap)
Trainer: Roger Varian – Jockey: Andrea Atzeni

New Bay filly NIZAAKA looks to hold the cards in this novice stakes, having troubled the judge in each of her four outings through the autumn. She is making up for lost time, and as the most experienced in the field can give short shrift to her foes as a short-priced but worthy favourite.

Race 7 No5 KNOCKABOUT QUEEN (Each Way)
Trainer: Michael Herrington – Jockey: Kieran O’Neill

If there was to be an upset the one to consider is KNOCKABOUT QUEEN. Her last but one finish at Lingfield last time was not as bad as it seems as she was beaten less than six lengths by a horse that’s gone on to give the form a double boost. It was also her first run on an all-weather surface since last Christmas, and just a second for her new trainer, who knows more about her now.
