CHELTENHAM – 22/10/2021
Race 4 No5 TORN AND FRAYED (Each Way)
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies
TORN AND FRAYED is likely to start as one of the outsiders on chase debut, but that shouldn’t stop you having an interest in the locally-trained raider. The selection proved a model of consistency over hurdles last season but from the way he’s schooled he should be even more effective over fences.
Race 5 No1 GUARD YOUR DREAMS (Nap)
Trainer: Nigel Twiston-Davies – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies
From the same stable, GUARD YOUR DREAMS can successfully give away weight all round. His third in a Grade 1 at Aintree in April reads especially well, while he won first time back last season.
Race 6 No9 DEBDEN BANK (Each Way)
Trainer: Martin Keighley – Jockey: Mr a James King
The upwardly mobile DEBDEN BANK can earn on this bid to extend his winning sequence to four. He’s looked a different horse since going over fences, and is unbeaten since his trainer equipped him with cheek pieces to help him concentrate.
NEWBURY – 22/10/2021
Race 1 No5 INGRA TOR (Each Way)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: James Doyle
Churchill colt INGRA TOR is a late entry onto the stage, but will hopefully prove worth waiting for. To win this he will have to do something no juvenile has managed from his stable first time out this year, but he shows plenty in his work, and has responded well to tuition for an aversion to starting stalls.
Race 4 No1 KALEIDOSCOPIC (Each Way)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Dane O’Neill
With a new jockey, KALEIDOSCOPIC must be given another chance to open her account for 2021. She came good at this time last season and was compromised by a slow start at Nottingham the other day. It meant she had to use up valuable energy to get the the front, leaving her with nothing more to give in the final half a furlong.
Race 6 No6 MILLTOWN STAR (Each Way)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: George Bass
MILLTOWN STAR is a speculative suggestion for this competitive affair. He ran a stinker at Leicester last week, but on his best form would have an earning chance. His trainer now adds cheek pieces, with the stable’s main apprentice taking 5lb off his back.
Race 8 No1 SINGLE (Nap)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Rose Dawes
Captain of industry SINGLE is favoured by race conditions, having gone up 11lb for her black type-earning effort in a Listed race at Bath last week. Granted a strong pace that sees her stamina kick in at the business end, she can prove a bet worth waiting for.
DONCASTER – 22/10/2021
Race 3 No10 JIMI HENDRIX (Each Way)
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Hector Crouch
New Bay colt JIMI HENDRIX shaped in eye taking style when just out of the money on his Salisbury introduction. And while Velazquez sets a high bar for the others to aim at, he could take down the favourite, as he’s been sending out very pleasing signals at home.
Race 4 No3 CHAIRMANOFTHEBOARD (Nap)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: William Buick
Buick rode a peach to give CHAIRMANOFTHEBOARD a deserved and overdue first success of the season at Haydock last week. The five-year-old, who is due to go under the hammer in Newmarket next week, can post what could be a valedictory final win for his trainer on ground that will be right up his alley.
NEWCASTLE – 22/10/201
Race 4 No1 POCKET THE PROFIT
Trainer: George Boughey – Jockey: Mark Crehan
POCKET THE PROFIT has been brilliantly campaigned by his trainer to complete a winning sequence of four. Under combination penalties of 18lb he can complete a famous nap hand of successes, having taken Tuesday’s Yarmouth exertions in his stride.
