14:30 – Group 2 Norfolk Stakes 5f – 2022 Royal Ascot Day 3
A difficult race to start with on Day 3 of Royal Ascot, with many open to any amount of improvement.
One who has a lot more to offer is the full brother to Battaash, THE ANTARTIC.
Two-from-two so far in his career with narrow wins, but always looked in control of both situations. Has a big danger in Walbank, but at roughly 7/2 The Antarctic is the one I want to be with.
15:05 – King George V Stakes Handicap 1m4f – 2022 Royal Ascot Day 3
As you would expect with a Royal Ascot handicap, there are plenty in with chances here.
The one I like is a horse I’ve followed since the start of his career and that is ISRAR.
A very well bred colt who came forward for his comeback run when winning a Newbury handicap from Surrey Must. That looks good form right now and, at 7/1, he strikes me as a great each way bet.
15:40 – Group 2 Ribblesdale Stakes 1m4f – 2022 Royal Ascot Day 3
MAGICAL LOGOON showed improvement in step up to 1m2f when narrowly denied at Navan last time out.
Takes a further 2f step up in trip and looks like she will relish it. Bred to be a better 3yo and I have no doubt we will see a massive performance today, and the market seems to be telling the same story as she was 7/2 when declared for this race and is now into 9/4.
16:20 – Groupe 1 Ascot Gold Cup 2m4f – 2022 Royal Ascot Day 3
A race I have come to really enjoy over the past few years and having a good record in picking the winner helps.
This year we have a new kid on the block in Kyprios who heads the market at 6/4, but I am more interested in last year’s second, PRINCESS ZOE.
She only found the freak Subjectivist too good in last season renewal. She is a proven Group 1 winner and consistent performer who has shown for on all sorts of ground. Warmed up for this with a win in the Sagaro over course.
At 8/1, she looks the standout each way value here.
17:00 – Britannia Stakes Handicap 1m – 2022 Royal Ascot Day 3
KING OF TIME is a horse who looked like a Group horse hiding in a handicap last time out and I don’t think the 7lb raise for that will stop him going very close today.
But, with 30 runners, there is a bit of each way value to be had and for those looking, I think Thesis could well be the one to put it up to the top two in the market.
17:35 – Group 3 Hampton Court Stakes 1m2f – 2022 Royal Ascot Day 3
This should really go to Reach For The Moon, but at 4/9 let’s find something to follow him home.
On the back of a win yesterday, trainer Jane Chapple-Hyam will come in here full of confidence with CLAYMORE.
Made an impressive debut back in October and backed that up with a good 2nd in the Craven Stakes. Excuse his run in the French 2000 Guineas, drawn in the worst stall and never got going.
Forgive him that and he could well follow the favourite home.
18:10 – Buckingham Palace Stake Handicap 7f – 2022 Royal Ascot Day 3
A hard race to finish off Day 3 of Royal Ascot, but let’s try solve the puzzle…
Montassib comes in here with a perfect 3/3 record but is drawn on what some would call the wrong side. So, I have two at bigger prices. The first one being TACTICAL who will don the Queen’s colours. A former winner of the Windsor Castle and now steps down in class as he takes on more realistic opposition.
Will come on for his comeback run and could well bring down the house if he gets his head back in front for Ryan Moore.
The other selection will be DANCE FEVER who is on a very workable mark based on last season’s form. Not seen to best use last time out but expect more of a bold show here.
