LEICESTER – 15/12/2021
Race 3 No2 CATCH THE SWALLOWS
Trainer: Venetia Williams – Jockey: Charlie Deutsch
CATCH THE SWALLOWS returns from an almost three year absence but if ready can deliver in this weak weak-looking maiden hurdle. The Bangor bumper scorer is unbeaten under Rules, and can reward the patience of his owners with an earning run.
Race 6 No3 SAN AGUSTIN (Nap)
Trainer: Tom Lacey – Jockey: Stan Sheppard
SAN AGUSTIN showed that he’d learned from an underwhelming first outing over fences by chasing home Fresh New Dawn at Market Rasen. If making similar progress on this third chasing start he will be very hard to beat.
Race 7 No6 PRESENT VALUE (Each Way)
Trainer: Jamie Snowden – Jockey: Page Fuller
If there’s a plot in this handicap hurdle it could revolve around PRESENT VALUE. The selection looked to have a bright future when beginning his chasing career but lost his way and earlier this year changed stables. Back over hurdles for an in-form outfit, he is well worth a market check.
NEWBURY – 15/12/2021
Race 2 No13 RAYMOND TUSK (Nap)
Trainer: Alan King – Jockey: Tom Cannon
Talking horse I Am Maximus is going to attract an abundance of support at his trainer’s home track, but the gelding’s tendency to race freely could open up an opportunity for RAYMOND TUSK to thwart him. The latter was a very solid middle distance handicapper on the Flat this summer and will be all the better for his first run over hurdles at Market Rasen. The support for him that day never looked like being justified, but he’s worth sticking with, and can do a lot better.
Race 4 No1 CHILLI FILLI
Trainer: Henry Daly – Jockey: Richard Patrick
Presenting mare CHILLI FILLI can complete a fine hat-trick in this mares’ Listed chase. Her last two wins have happened at the same level, and when scoring at Market Rasen she needed to dig deep. She also has to carry a penalty, but in current mood can prove a match for the equally progressive Silver Forever.
Race 5 No5 GUARDINO
Trainer: Ben Pauling – Jockey: Kielan Woods
Former Irish pointer GUARDINO landed a Kempton bumper last winter and put in a creditable first offering over jumps when second to Harbour Lake at Wetherby. That form reads well in the context of his task here, and he’s carded to be firmly in the mix again.
LINGFIELD PARK – 15/12/2021
Race 5 No1 MY BONNIE LASSIE (Nap)
Trainer: Steve Woodman – Jockey: William Carson
Veteran trainer Woodman can take out this novice with new recruit MY BONNIE LASSIE. The highland Reel filly brings the best form to the table after a win and a second at Catterick, and has to go close if she’s as good on Polytrack.
KEMPTON PARK – 15/12/2021
Race 3 No2 ASAASSI (Nap)
Trainer: Roger Varian – Jockey: Jack Mitchell
ASAASSI found only one to beat him when attracting support on debut here last month. The Sea The Stars colt will be more streetwise and should open his account.
Race 5 No2 KEEPING HOPING
Trainer: Clive Cox – Jockey: David Probert
Profitable filly KEEPING HOPING has improved with each outing to acquire a mark and only lost out in a photo on her all-weather debut at this course in October. She should enjoy the step up to a mile.
