Neil Morrice covers his tips for Wednesday’s British meetings at Beverly, Sandown Park, Yarmouth and Kelso on 15/09/2021.
BEVERLEY -15/09/2021
Race 1: LUXOR FLUSH (Nap)
Trainer: Ollie Pears – Jockey: Graham Lee
Previous course experience should count plenty towards the chance of LUXOR FLUSH in this first division of the maiden. Beaten just a neck by Eidikos, the form has been handed a couple of subsequent boosts, and the gelding can get the better of Lady Raeburn.
Race 2: BAY BREEZE
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan
Unless newcomers Ridicule or Greenbarn know their stuff, this could be an opportunity for BAY BREEZE to notch an overdue success. The Buratino colt has taken home a cheque on all three starts in nurseries and only once failed to trouble the judge in his seven starts so far. He certainly lacks nothing on the learning curve, and is overdue.
Race 4: LIBBY
Trainer: Phillip Makin – Jockey: Paul Mulrennan
LIBBY to turn the tables on her conqueror here last month Piastrella is the way this could turn out. A penalty will not make life easy for the latter, who had a length and a quarter in hand but might find her rival too strong this time.
SANDOWN PARK – 15/09/2021
Race 4: ESCOBAR
Trainer: David O’Meara – Jockey: Adam Kirby
There are several hold up horses in this Listed feature, the best of whom may be ESCOBAR. The seven-year-old needs things to fall right, but in running one of best races of the year when second to Aratus at Goodwood last time served notice that he can soon end a two year wait for success. In a very interesting race, Rhoscolyn and Sir Busker can also get involved.
Race 7: HARSTON (Nap)
Trainer: Harry Eustace – Jockey: George Wood
A game scorer on handicap debut at Lingfield, HARSTON is a lightly-raced individual that has more to offer. The daughter of Investec Derby winner Harzand has been given time to get over those exertions and trained well in preparation for this three-year-old only handicap.
YARMOUTH – 15/09/2021
Race 3: VILLE DE GRACE
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Ryan Moore
VILLE DE GRACE makes abundant appeal in this Listed feature for distaffers after a most eye taking effort on her latest outing at Sandown. In that Group 3 she put in her best work up the final hill to finish third behind Saffron Beach. There’s not much of the daughter of Le Havre, but she should have more to offer.
Race 4: CAIRN GORM (Nap)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Tom Marquand
In the same colours as Ville De Grace, CAIRN GORM can outpoint a field of older rivals in this Class 2 handicap. The three-year-old put up an underwhelming performance at Newmarket last time, but is a lot better than he showed. He looked in tip top order blowing out for this on Monday.
Race 6: ARCADIAN NIGHTS
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: David Egan
ARCADIAN NIGHTS clicked with Egan to score a shade snugly at Wolverhampton and is poised to complete a hat-trick. He seemed lost in the wilderness but has bounced back to endorse all the promise he showed on the gallops earlier in the summer, and can dominate his field.
KELSO – 15/09/2021
Race 5: CRACKING DESTINY (Nap)
Trainer: Ewan Whillans – Jockey: Callum Bewley
CRACKING DESTINY gave his rookie trainer a winner on first start for him at Stratford and has a strong chance of following-up off a 5lb higher mark. His jumping was a joy to behold, and even though this is a strongly contested affair, he can confirm his well being with another triumph.
