EXETER
Race 2 No1 CAMPROND (Nap)
Trainer: Philip Hobbs – Jockey: Aidan Coleman
CAMPROND is a fascinating addition to the chasing ranks and strongly fancied to take down the short-priced McFabulous, who blotted his copybook when pulled up at Wincanton and is out quickly to try to set the record straight. In his own right Camprond makes sense as the one to be on, as was a high class handicap hurdler and after finishing fourth in the Coral Cup landed a competitive race at Punchestown when last seen back in the spring. He’s taken well to jumping fences at home and could emerge as his trainer’s nicest prospect for the winter ahead.
Race 3 No14 TIMEFORATUNE
Trainer: Paul Nicholls – Jockey: Harry Cobden
Although underwhelming on his first outing over hurdles, former smart bumper horse TIMEFORATUNE looks well worth another chance given the sparkling form of the Nicholls horses. A winner of three of his five starts under Rules, he remains one of the better prospects at Ditcheat, and can show his true ability today.
Race 4 No7 MIDNIGHT GLANCE
Trainer: Alan King – Jockey: Thomas Bellamy
MIDNIGHT GLANCE is sure to be fine-tuned following a couple of earning runs at Uttoxeter. This is only the fourth outing over fences, and he should make the necessary improvement to take away a cheque against worthy rivals like Representing Bob and Dan’s Chosen, who should also get involved.
LEICESTER
Race 4 No1 ASA (Nap)
Trainer: Richard Hobson – Jockey: Brain Hughes
This is a tricky card with field sizes decimated by the drying ground. The only bet is ASA, who showed ability on her only start in the French provinces and bids to bolster the good record of her trainer at this course. She’s been well prepared for her debut under Rules and can take down paper favourite Lechro.
PLUMPTON
Race 1 No1 WYDAH GALLY (Nap)
Trainer: Joe Tizzard – Jockey: Brendan Powell
Always to be respected with his runners here, Joe Tizzard unleashes a good prospect for chasing in WYDAH GALLY, who by taking out a couple of handicap hurdles early this year showed he’s not short of ability. Like all the novices from this stable he’s been well prepared for the switch to fences.
Race 3 No5 WAJAAHA
Trainer: Charles Byrnes – Jockey: Philip Byrnes
Apart from starting life running on the all-weather when trained out of Newmarket, WAJAAHA has done all his other racing in Ireland where he ran in 24 consecutive races. Quite why a horse with this profile is now running in a humble seller at an English course is hard to fathom, save that if he has retained even a small portion of his old ability he should wipe the floor with his opponents.
Race 5 No1 GERICO VILLE
Trainer: Chris Gordon – Jockey: Tom Cannon
The Gordon stable is peppering the board with winners and of its two runners here GERICO VALE is narrowly preferred to Baddesley. The former raced exclusively at Lingfield last season and wasn’t seen after sustaining a fall at that course in January. He’s been given plenty of time to get his confidence back, and to strengthen and mature, and possibly has more scope for progression than his stablemate, who nevertheless rates a big threat to him.
WOLVERHAMPTON
Race 1 No11 THE GO TO (Each Way)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: Cam Hardie
One that could be over-priced is THE GO TO, who upped her game to trouble the judge when third on her second start at Redcar. The daughter of Ribchester needs to step up again to take the spoils, but shouldn’t be underestimated.
Race 2No10 VICTORIA FALLS (Nap)
Trainer: Hugo Palmer – Jockey: Cieren Fallon
VICTORIA FALLS has a better draw than market rival Saorla, and is also less exposed than that rival. She outperformed her price when chasing home Brewing at Newcastle, showing on that occasion that she’s happy on this Tapeta surface. Granted normal progression on this third career start, she can open her account.
Race 7 No3 NIGHT LIFE
Trainer: Richard Hannon – Jockey: John Fahy
In a tight-knit nursery, NIGHT LIFE can take the spoils. The Nathaniel filly returns from a break in good order for a first outing on the all-weather, having failed by just a head to break her maiden against Ndaawi at Goodwood in late August. In fairness four of the five runners can win, and she will need to be on her A-game to repel Sol Cato and Tabaretta.
