14/02/2022 – Monday’s Racing Tips

14/02/2022

Neil Morrice outlines his best bets and tips for Monday’s British meetings at Plumpton, Caterick Bridge and Wolverhampton on 14/02/2022.

PLUMPTON – 14/02/2022

Race 1 No1 MARK OF GOLD (Nap)
Trainer: Gary Moore – Jockey: Jamie Moore

On a third successive visit to this track, MARK OF GOLD can get favourite backers off to a good start. He landed the odds laid on him in convincing fashion over this two mile trip last month, while his previous defeat at the hooves of Aucunrisque has worked out.

Race 3 No3 SOPRANO THOR
Trainer: Gary Moore – Jockey: Jamie Moore

SOPRAN THOR is the one to be on if able to return to his good form level of the autumn, when he was a wide margin winner on seasonal reappearance and debut over fences at Lingfield. He was travelling happily enough when unseating his pilot at the same track last time, and now needs to show he likes Plumpton on a belated first visit to his local course.

Race 5 No3 EARLY DE LEMO
Trainer: Gary Moore – Jockey: Joshua Moore

The grey EARLY DE LEMO can prove hard to catch if able to dominate this two mile handicap chase. He should find the tight track more suitable than Chepstow, where he failed to fire last time, and can add to his trainer’s good record at the track.

CATTERICK BRIDGE – 14/02/2022

Race 2 No7 JUST CALL ME AL (Nap)
Trainer: Miss G Boanas – Jockey: Sean Quinlan

JUST CALL ME ALL looked good value for his margin of victory at Sedgefield last time when recording a third triumph at that course. Ridden cold, he picked off his foes one by one for a stylish victory for which he’s been raised 4lb. He has an exemplary record since returning from a wind operation, winning or placing in each of eight outings over hurdles and fences, while he scored on his only previous visit to this venue three years ago.

Race 3 No2 MISS FAIRFAX
Trainer: Hughie Morrison – Jockey: Tom O’Brien

Morrison must always be respected when saddling a runner here, and in MISS FAIRFAX looks to have the answer to this mares’ novices’ hurdle. The chestnut justified heavy support to open her account at Exeter, and with that confidence-building success under her belt will be hard to stop.

Race 4 No2 TIMBERMAN
Trainer: Fergal O’Brien – Jockey: Liam Harrison

O’Brien has done well with TIMBERMAN since the gelding’s purchase at the Sales, sending him out to score at Doncaster, Market Rasen and Kempton. The Nap has benefitted from exaggerated waiting tactics and also from the fitting of a hood that has helped his jockeys to ride him cold.

Race 5 No1 ALMAZHAR GARDE
Trainer: Charlie Longsdon – Jockey: Luca Morgan

Bold front runner ALMAZHAR GARDE made a good fist of trying to go from tape to line over a longer trip on a first visit to this track last month. His accurate jumping soon had many of his foes in trouble, and if again being able to dominate he can last home and go one better.

WOLVERHAMPTON – 14/02/2022

Race 1 No4 NAGASAKI DREAM (Each Way)
Trainer: Alan Berry – Jockey: Faye McManoman

From a cracking draw NAGASAKI DREAM can put in another earning run round one of the few turning five furlongs in the country. The admirably consistent four-year-old should be all the better for his defeat in a blanket finish over course and distance at the start of the month.

Race 2 No2 BARRINGTON (Each Way)
Trainer: Mike Appleby – Jockey: Frederick Larson

It’s getting towards four years since BARRINGTON last visited the winner’s circle, but he’s indicated with a number of recent earning runs that he can soon break the trend. He needs the rub of the green, and if getting racing real estate at the business end can prevail.
