13/10/2021 – Wednesday’s Racing Tips

13/10/202

Neil Morrice brings you his best bets and tips for meetings at Bath, Nottingham, Wetherby and Kempton on 13/10/2021.

BATH – 13/10/2021

Race 1: BURTONLODGE BEAUTY
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: David Probert

As part of a duel West Ilsley challenge on the opener, BURTONLODGE BEAUTY can take the spoils at the main expense of stablemate Bluebell Way. Both have knocked on the door in a big way, but Burtonlodge Beauty has a kinder draw in this large field and looked unfortunate to be nabbed in the last stride at Chelmsford last time.

Race 3: SIXTH STREET
Trainer: Richard Hannon – Jockey: Dane O’Neill

SIXTH STREET did not go unsupported when chasing home a more experienced foe on her debut at Wolverhampton. The daughter of Toronado has pleased connections in her subsequent work at home, and granted normal progression should get involved.

Race 4: GEELONG
Trainer: Paul Cole – Jockey: Shane Kelly

GEELONG did us a favour when going in at 12-1 on his Wolverhampton debut, and though penalised for that introductory triumph, has the wherewithal to follow-up in this novice stakes. The son of Australia comes from a good staying family that his trainer knows all about, and will appreciate the step up to a mile and a quarter.

Race 5: URBAN ARTIST (Nap)
Trainer: Hughie Morrison – Jockey: PJ McDonald

Cityscape mare URBAN ARTIST has performed consistently well at Listed and Group level this year, and though well beaten in the Park Hill can outclass her foes in this feature. She enjoys getting her toe into the ground, but can also handle today’s better terrain.

Race 7: STORM CHASER (Each Way)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Tom Marquand

STORM CHASER is a gigantic filly who deserves a change of luck with Marquand an eye taking jockey booking. The daughter of Hurricane Run has been selectively campaigned since joining her trainer from France. On only a second turf outing in this country, she can take home a cheque at a decent price.

NOTTINGHAM – 13/10/2021

Race 3: VOODOO QUEEN
Trainer: Roger Varian – Jockey: Andrea Atzeni

By Frankel out of a Group 1-winner, VOODOO QUEEN is the subject of encouraging reports from Newmarket. She can get the better of another beautifully-bred newcomer in Peace Offering.

Race 4: BAZALGETTE (Nap)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: David Egan

Clodovil colt BAZALGETTE upped his game to finish second to Young Winston on nursery debut at Ripon and has thrived in the interim. The grey holds strong claims to go one better, in spite of being raised 5lb for his efforts.

WETHERBY – 13/10/2021

Race 3: SIRUH DU LAC (Nap)
Trainer: David Pipe – Jockey: Tom Scudamore

The 2019 Brown Advisory Plate winner SIRUH DU LAC has failed to complete in three subsequent outings over fences and now embarks on just a second outing for the Pipes following wind surgery. This is his first run since unseating in a Grade 3 handicap chase at Cheltenham in November last year and will be his first hurdles start since January 2017. The eight-year-old has winning mileage to play with if remaining sound and can take advantage of this fine opportunity.

Race 4: WHOSHOTTHESHERIFF
Trainer: Phil Kirby – Jockey: Sean Quinlan

WHOSHOTTHESHERIFF finds himself in calmer waters than when third to Allmankind in a warm novice chase at Ayr in April. That was a satisfactory conclusion to the gelding’s first season over fences, in which he was twice successful, and he’s in good order for this first handicap assignment.

KEMPTON PARK – 13/10/2021

Race 1: SOVEREIGN SLIPPER (Each Way)
Trainer: Henry Candy – Jockey: Adam Kirby

SOVEREIGN SLIPPER was a late scratch from a turf assignment last week and is an interesting candidate for this Polytrack sprint around one right-handed bend, in which he breaks from the rail. Kirby rarely rides for the stable, and his presence can help his talented mount make up his mind at the business end of the contest.

Race 2: PENGUIN ISLAND (Nap)
Trainer: Henry Candy – Jockey: Hollie Doyle

PENGUIN ISLAND raised her game to get into the money over seven furlongs on second career start here last time. The daughter of The Gurkha can cope with this drop back in trip to open her account from what looks a plum slot in the gate.

Race 3: RUN TO FREEDOM (Each Way)
Trainer: Henry Candy – Jockey: Adam Kirby

On what could be a bountiful evening for Candy, RUN TO FREEDOM takes the eye from an equally good draw. He cut for home a long way out in Sunray Major’s race at Ascot and a combination of that and failing to get the trip saw him beat a hasty retreat in the final 150 yards. He is drawn to attack and should put in a big earning run now back at a sprint distance.

Race 5: SATONO CHEVALIER (Each Way)
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Ryan Moore

A dark horse on handicap debut is SATONO CHEVALIER, who takes the eye as the least experienced runner after failing to transmit his good home form onto the racecourse in three attempts. He’s been difficult to assess and granted his plum draw needs respecting.
