11/09/2021 – Doncaster Day 4 Tips

11/09/2021 - Tips for the final day of the Doncaster St Leger Festival

Neil Morrice outlines his tips for British race meetings at Doncaster, Chester, Bath, Lingfield Park and Musselburgh on 11/09/2021.

DONCASTER  – 11/09/2021

Race 3 – Champagne Stakes (Group 2): REACH FOR THE MOON
Trainer: John Gosden – Jockey: Frankie Dettori

REACH FOR THE MOON should attract a welter of professional money if he’s to win this on the way to a crack at the 2,000 Guineas next season. The Sea The Stars colt appeared as good as ever when taking out the Solario Stakes at Sandown, looking better the further he travelled. He can shape up into an exciting Classic prospect for owner The Queen by making this the completing leg of a hat-trick.

Race 5 – CAZOO ST LEGER STAKES (Group 1): HURRICANE LANE
Trainer: Charlie Appleby – Jockey: William Buick

The betting for the Final Classic has been dominated by Irish Derby and Grand Prix de Paris winner HURRICANE LANE.

If turning up in the same kind of form, he’ll be very hard to stop. The colt met with defeat for the only time when third to stablemate Adayar in the Derby. The winner showed the same form in the King George at Ascot. There’s nothing about his style of racing that doesn’t suggest he will relish the step up to a mile and threequarters, and he can become an important name on the Leger roll of honour.

Mojo Star is one that can outrun his starting price, granted his room for progression and current well being, though he was readily trounced by Hurricane Lane at the Curragh.

Ottoman Emperor holds Sir Lucan on Gordon Stakes running and has a real chance of posting a podium finish for his enthusiastic connections.

High Definition has underwhelmed as favourite on his starts in 2021. Connections now reach for first-time cheek pieces after supplementing him into the race.

CHESTER – 11/09/2021

Race 5: POWERALLIED (Each Way)
Trainer: Richard Fahey – Jockey: Paddy Mathers

Multiple course winner POWERALLIED has dropped to a tempting mark and holds big win and place claims breaking from the favoured rail in this sprint handicap. He showed when beaten in a photo here when last seen at the end of June that he’s on the cusp of a return to the winner’s circle.

Race 7: KALEIDOSCOPIC (Each Way)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: David Probert

Le Havre filly KALEIDOSCOPIC reverts to a mile and a quarter following a solid enough effort when just out of the money in Nell Quickly’s race at Salisbury, she’s had recurring menstrual issues through the summer, but in the belief those are behind her she can take home a cheque at a big double-figure price.

BATH – 11/09/2021

Race 5: TASFEEQ (Nap)
Trainer: Marcus Tregoning – Jockey: Kieran Shoemark

Fast ground has restricted field sizes at this meeting, leaving TASFEEQ as the only advice on the card. The way he took out a Class 4 at Newmarket last month left the impression there was more to come.

LINGFIELD PARK – 11/09/2021

Race 7: SHINING SUCCESS (Nap)
Trainer: David Simcock – Jockey: Daniel Muscutt

SHINING SUCCESS appeals as the only bet on this card and can follow-up her clear cut Kempton success which confirmed her liking for Polytrack. She has given out pleasing signals in the six weeks since that triumph.

MUSSELBURGH – 11/09/2021

Race 3: COAXING
Trainer: David Barron – Jockey: Graham Lee

With her near miss on handicap debut here last month, COAXING showed a first sign of ability and that can now be endorsed as she goes back into battle as the least exposed runner in this nursery.

Race 4: ROACH POWER (Nap)
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: James Sullivan

ROACH POWER is of considerable interest in this novice stakes after an eye taking first run at Carlisle. The Ribchester colt ran green but finished to good effect to chase home Breeze Easy and is going to be more streetwise. This six figure purchase is one to follow.
