06/10/2022 – Thursday’s Racing Tips

06/10/2022 - Thursday's Racing Tips by Neil Morrice

Neil Morrice gives us his best bets and tips for Thursday’s British meetings at Ayr, Warwick, Worcester and Chelmsford on 06/10/2022.

AYR – 06/10/2022

Race 2: EASTVAN (Each Way)
Trainer: Lucinda Russell – Jockey: Oisin Orr

Lambourn raider Radetsky Marsch will take out a big part of the betting handle and make EASTVAN the value pick to beat him. The selection was hampered by inexperience but nevertheless ran a cracker when second on his debut at Hamilton. With the benefit of that run under his belt he can earn.

Race 3: CHINESE SPIRIT (Each Way)
Trainer: Linda Perratt – Jockey: Harry Russell

CHINESE SPIRIT picked up a minor cheque behind Fourth Time Lucky at Hamilton in spite of carrying 2lb overweight. Beaten only two lengths, the run indicates this in and out performer is ready to put his best foot forward.

Race 8: CITY VAULTS (Nap)
Trainer: David O’Meara – Jockey: Danny Tudhope

CITY VAULTS made his bid for glory a shade too soon when failing to defy a 6lb penalty at Chelmsford, but can set the record straight by thwarting Valley Of Flowers on this return to turf.

WARWICK – 06/10/2022

Race 1: SIR TIVO (Nap)
Trainer: Gary Hanmer – Jockey: Sean Bowen

SIR TIVO made a good fist of leading throughout, only to fall to the superior speed of Throne Hall when returned to hurdles at Uttoxeter. That was an encouraging effort on a first run after a breathing operation, and he faces a gilt-edged opportunity to take advantage of his novice status.

Race 5: NEVER NO TROUBLE (Each Way)
Trainer: Donald McCain Jnr – Jockey: Peter Kavanagh

NEVER NO TROUBLE has earned on both outings in maiden hurdles since joining her trainer. A regular earner on the Flat, she’s taken well to jumping and enjoys a healthy weight concession from her rivals in a contest that doesn’t appear to have too much depth to it.

Race 6: SHELDON (Each Way)
Trainer: Seamus Mullins – Jockey: Daniel Samsom

SHELDON is a horse worth following off his current mark, and one that can profit us. He’s too good to have just a single success to his name, and with the benefit of a wind operation can make them all go on this seasonal return.

WORCESTER – 06/10/2022

Race 2: BOAGRIUS
Trainer: Tom George – Jockey: Jonathan Burke

BOAGRIUS displayed a liking for this course when chasing home the bang-in-form Judge Earle last month. It was a notable step in the right direction for a horse that could have more to offer.

Race 3: MOUNT BONETE (Nap)
Trainer: Chris Gordon – Jockey: Tom Cannon

From a stable that is not only making a good start to the campaign but is also not frightened to run good horses early, MOUNT BONETE has to be of interest in the bumper. He showed ability in his only point in Ireland, and carries popular colours worn by Cheltenham Festival winners Lady Martha and Martha’s Son.

CHELMSFORD CITY – 06/10/2022

Race 1: DAKOTA ELEGANCE
Trainer: Brian Meehan – Jockey: Sean Levey

Toronado filly DAKOTA ELEGANCE has been unwanted in the market but shown ability on both her visits to the track. She finished only two lengths adrift of Pinafore when third at Kempton, and as long as this drop back to the minimum trip doesn’t inconvenience her she should open her account.

Race 3: MASHAAER (Nap)
Trainer: Henry Spiller – Jockey: Adam Kirby

MASHAAER has with a string of frustrating defeats turned herself into the so-called perennial bridesmaid, and undoubtedly has a chink in her armour. However, from a plum draw and with nothing able to touch her form credentials she will never have a better chance to open her account. She also looks to have the right man on board to get the job done.

Race 8: EASTER ICON (Each Way)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: George Bass

EASTER ICON has been a slow learner, with greenness hampering his progression. That was until he raised his game to take away a minor cheque in Copperplate’s race at this track, where he stayed on in eye taking fashion. He’s still unexposed, will improve, and can give paper favourite Captain Howse plenty to think about.
