CATTERICK BRIDGE – 06/04/2022
Race 1 No9 ELZAAL
Trainer: Paul Midgley – Jockey: Billy Garritty
The opener for the new Flat season here can go to the well-drawn ELZAAL, who has plenty going for him. Although still seeking to break his maiden tag he’s fresh off a couple of near-misses on the all-weather, and should have a fitness edge on the majority of his rivals.
Race 6 No2 MAHANAKHON POWER
Trainer: Rebecca Menzies – Jockey: Callum Rodriguez
MAHANAKHON POWER has troubled the judge on successive outings over hurdles since undergoing a wind operation. With his fitness assured he can post a first win since joining his trainer.
Race 7 No1 KHURUMBI (Nap)
Trainer: Ed Bethell – Jockey: William Pyle
The Gurkha filly KHURUMBI should be too good for these as joint top weight in a compressed handicap. Not only is she the least experienced runner, giving her more room for progression than her foes, but she goes to post off an expensive defeat at Wolverhampton for which her connections will be keen for consolation. Furthermore her trainer now adds cheek pieces.

Race 1 No2 CUMULONIMBUS (Nap)
Trainer: Charlie Fellowes – Jockey: David Egan
Night of Thunder colt CUMULONIMBUS has the wherewithal to take out an interesting first race of the new season at Colwick Park. He was a big eye taker when third on debut in the back end Doncaster maiden won by Jimi Hendrix. A 40-1 ‘no hoper’ that day, he will start at considerably shorter odds here, but is strongly fancied to open his account.
Race 2 No7 SIGNORINA MERISI (Each Way)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: David Probert
Caravaggio filly SIGNORINA MERISI looks as if she’s inherited the stamina from her dam’s side of the pedigree and should relish the step up to a mile and a quarter. She’s been in good form at home, and will not lack for fitness on her first run in almost 200 days.
Race 5 No3 STOWELL
Trainer: John Gosden – Jockey: Frankie Dettori
Trueshan sets a high standard for the others to aim at in this Listed feature, but if there’s a new kid on the block in the staying division that horse could be STOWELL. The Zoffany colt was inexperienced when tackling the Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot, and during that race gave away far more ground than he was beaten by. If a line can be drawn through his underwhelming final run of 2021 at Newmarket then he is going to be a big threat to Prix du Cadran and Ascot Long Distance Cup winner Trueshan, who wouldn’t want the ground to dry up.
LINGFIELD PARK – 06/04/2022
Race 5 No1 WILLOW COVE (Nap)
Trainer: Charlie Appleby – Jockey: James Doyle
WILLOW COVE overcame greenness to score going away on her Wolverhampton introduction. The Sea The Stars filly will be more streetwise in what looks a match against the more e per maiden Three Priests.
Race 6 No4 MONET’S SUNRISE
Trainer: Richard Hannon – Jockey: Rossa Ryan
MONET’S SUNRISE showed ability in both his outings on Grade 1 tracks as a juvenile. His third to Saga at Ascot reads particularly well, and he’s sufficiently forward to score on this Polytrack debut.
KEMPTON PARK – 06/04/2022
Race 2 No2 INGRA TOR (Nap)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Charles Bishop
INGRA TOR showed how much benefit he’s derived from a winter on his back when opening his account at Southwell. And while it wasn’t the hottest of contests, he is starting to live up to the promise shown on the home gallops last year. Another win will qualify him for a crack at the Greenham.
Race 5 No2 BULLEIT
Trainer: William Jarvis – Jockey: Cieren Fallon
BULLEIT has served connections well with successes from both visits to this course. He attracted support before readily seeing-off Mcqueen in a falsely run affair last time, and in spite of having a wide draw to contend with is strongly fancied to follow-up.
