AINTREE
Race 3 No1 BOWTOGREATNESS (Nap)
Trainer: Ben Pauling – Jockey: Kielan Woods
BOWTOGREATNESS was highly tried following smooth wins over hurdles at Ffos Las and Leicester, and though out of his depth at Aintree ran well to a point in a Grade 1. This bold jumper has always promised to find his true forte over fences, and should not be compromised by starting straight off in a handicap.
Race 4 No10 THE GOLDEN REBEL (Each Way)
Trainer: Ben Case – Jockey: Bryan Carver
Although beaten in his three races this season, THE GOLDEN REBEL is the type that can raise his game now tackling the famous Grand National fences for the first time. He likes to race prominently, and if getting into a rhythm could prove hard to peg back. Al Dancer brings an element of class to the table and from a stable in form is worth a saver.
WINCANTON
Race 3 No1 FRODON (Nap)
Trainer: Paul Nicholls – Jockey: Bryony Frost
Though carrying a welter burden, FRODON makes plenty of appeal after being dropped 6lb and is capable of a bold showing in the first major race at this track of the new season. The ten-year-old is fresh from a wind operation, and assisted by that can outclass his foes.
Race 5 Unibet Elite Hurdle (Grade 2)
No4 MILKWOOD
Trainer: Neil Mulholland – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies
MILKWOOD is a horse that could have more to offer sticking over hurdles, having chased home Effernock Fizz in the Welsh Champion Hurdle when not fully wound up. This strong traveller can surprise last year’s winner Sceau Royal.
Race 7 No7 SIX AND OUT
Trainer: D Weston – Jockey: Gavin Sheehan
SIX AND OUT finished second on debut in a Ludlow bumper that worked out. He’s going to be more streetwise and can go one better at the main expense of Nicholls newcomer Kick Up A Storm.
KELSO
Race 1 No5 SALVINO (Nap)
Trainer: Sandy Thomson – Jockey: Bruce Lynn
SALVINO will be sharper for his comeback effort at Carlisle. Very easy to back, he stayed on into the money and is too good to remain a maiden for long.
Race 6 No9 BESTIARIUS (Each Way)
Trainer: Gilliam Boanas – Jockey: Sean Quinlan
Front runner BESTIARIUS regularly finds himself in the money, while rarely posting a winning run. In this open race he can again be competitive, and should Gentleman De Mai need his first start in more than a year could prevail.
DONCASTER
Race 2 No3 FERROUS (Nap)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Connor Beasley
The one that jumps off the page in this first division of the maiden is FERROUS. The Dark Angel colt showed ability earlier in the season but had to be put on the back burner. However, when being introduced at Windsor he put in a performance full of promise and will be a lot more streetwise for it.
Race 3 No1 ART POWER
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan
ART POWER didn’t show up in Group 1 company on Champions Day when racing on the wrong part of the track, and too keenly for his own good. If given a more controlled ride, the grey can outclass his opponents now dropped into Listed company.
Race 4 No12 MOON DE VEGA (Each Way)
Trainer: Ralph Beckett – Jockey: Rossa Ryan
MOON DE VEGA looked an Oaks prospect when placed in the Cheshire version, but though flattering early in the straight, faded out of contention at Epsom. Her trainer has been patient with her and believes she can pick up black type on easy ground that will not compromise her chance.
Race 5 No7 TIRIAC
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Connor Beasley
TIRIAC was the only one to try to make a race of it with the older Ehraz at Newmarket, and though readily outclassed by that rival has learned a lot from the experience. This close relative of the smart Nastase can open his account.
Race 7 BetGoodwin November Handicap
No1 TRITONIC (Each Way)
Trainer: Alan King – Jockey: Callum Hutchinson
King is a master at sending out high-class handicappers to win top contests under welter burdens, as demonstrated by Trueshan in the Northumberland Plate. Here he saddles smart dual-purpose horse TRITONIC, who loves this ground and can follow up his defeat of Goshen at Goodwood last month. Three-year-old ISRAR a can also get into the shake-up and rates a big threat, while at longer odds METIER is interesting, and certainly not out of it.
Prediction: 1st TRITONIC, 2nd Israr, 3rd Metier
