Neil Morrice outlines his best bets and tips for Tuesday’s British meetings at Exeter, Pontefract and Southwell on 05/04/2022.
EXETER – 05/04/2022
Race 5 No2 SAN AGUSTIN (Nap)
Trainer: Tom Lacey – Jockey: Thomas Bellamy
SAN AGUSTIN hails from a stable that’s getting its act together for a spring bonanza. He needs to prove his fitness on this return from a four month absence, but has a definite edge on his foes after scoring with a bit in hand when last seen at Leicester.
Race 7 No2 WEST APPROACH
Trainer: Colin Tizzard – Jockey: Mr Freddie Gingell
WEST APPROACH has so far struggled to put his head in front in the hunter-chase division, but has a good shot at halting Rolling Dylan’s winning spree. The two professionally-trained runners should dictate the outcome.
PONTEFRACT – 05/04/2022
Race 4 No5 FISHABLE
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: David Allan
FISHABLE ran his best races in the early part of the 2021 campaign which augers well for a forward showing on this seasonal return. A winner in Class3 company at Ripon in a May, he can take home a cheque at this higher level.
Race 6 No3 SAVVY VICTORY (Nap)
Trainer: Sean Woods – Jockey: Tom Marquand
New Bay colt SAVVY VICTORY almost pulled off a 66-1 shocker when running Israr to half a length at Doncaster, and though unable to better that in two subsequent back end starts is probably the one to beat in this interesting maiden.
SOUTHWELL – 05/04/2022
Race 2 No1 HARDY DU SEUIL
Trainer: Jamie Snowden – Jockey: Gavin Sheehan
HARDY DU SEUIL has been a fine money spinner for his connections, and will be hard to beat of adapting to this track. His chasing career with Snowden has yielded two successes and two near misses, while he’s failed to complete on his other two outings. If putting in a fault free round he can prevail.
Race 6 No1 HEAD LAW (Nap)
Trainer: Jonjo O’Neill – Jockey: Jonjo O’Neill Jr
After hacking up on handicap bow at Warwick last week, HEAD LAW is in pole position to complete a fine hat-trick. He’s carrying a 7lb penalty, but looked to have a lot more than that in hand of Smith’s Bay. He could easily put together a long sequence of successes.
