Women’s UEFA Cup 2022

Spain vs Finland: Women’s UEFA Cup 2022

In what appears likely to be a one-sided match on Friday evening, tournament favourites play Finland in the opening round of fixtures in Group B. These two last met in 2018 with both results in favour of Spain, 5-1 and 0-2.

The match result market offers some large prices the draw (8/1) and a shock Finnish win (22/1). However, Spain are too restrictive to consider having a bet on the nose and we’ll need to look elsewhere to have an interest. In Wednesday’s opener between England and Austria,  Beth Mead’s winner in the 16th minute was all that separated the two sides although England probably should have scored another 2. But what I took away from that game was the atmosphere and also the well-structured approach from Austria. After viewing this, I wouldn’t be surprised if we actually see some tighter games than expected, particularly in the opening rounds where teams are still fresh and the underdogs enjoying the occasion and possibly have the edge in spectator support

Betting Plan: Women’s UEFA Cup 2022

Aitana Bonmati is the striker to watch for Spain whilst their inspirational and consistent captain Irene Parades, who plays defender, likes to pop up for attacking set-pieces. Finland’s centre-back Anna Westerlund, now 33 years of age, will be instrumental in keeping her defence well organised.

Germany vs Denmark: Women’s UEFA Cup 2022

Arguably the first real competitive match so far. These two top-quality sides last met in the Euro’s in 2017 when Denmark came from behind to knock Germany out of the quarter-finals. In 22 meetings dating back decades, Germany holds a commanding lead with 12 wins to Denmark’s 6 and 4 draws, though Denmark has won 2 of 3 of their last 3 meetings. Brentford, in west London, is the venue.

Betting Plan: Women’s UEFA Cup 2022

Germany is my fancy to lift the trophy and I’ll be happy if they can squeak a win.  However, a draw really wouldn’t surprise me. Lina Magull is one to watch in midfield for Germany whilst 24-year-old Danish Player of the Year, Signe Bruun, is a right menace in front of goal.

I feel Germany is priced up too short for this match and despite a liking for Germany, I feel a small bit of value lies with the Danes who are no slouches and suggest a 1/2 Unit on the double chance market, draw/Denmark @ 23/20.y
