Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, was satisfied with his side’s performance against Sheriff on Thursday night in the Europa League and claimed Jadon Sancho could get even better this season after he got on the score sheet again. In his second season with United, Sancho put United ahead in the 17th minute before Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty before the break sealed the win.

“It was a great goal, and I am really happy for Jadon [Sancho], and he finished off a really good goal, a team goal. But I also think it showed a really good team performance,” said Ten Hag after their first win in the Europa League.

“Jadon has so much potential. He had a good pre-season. First, he invested a lot and is on his way to getting really fit. It is a process; he scores goals and is in the moment in the season where he is more secure.”

Sancho has already scored three goals in eight games in all competitions this season, while he only managed to score four goals in over 30 games last season.

Speaking of Ronaldo, who scored his first goal under the Dutch tactician and his first ever in the Europa League, Ten Hag revealed he’s happy with his progress fitness-wise after missing the majority of pre-season.

“We could expect this when you miss pre-season, so he has to work really hard and invest in getting the right fitness, then he will score more goals. You can see he is close. When he gets fitter, he will finish them. I think [he is] totally committed to this project and totally committed to this team, totally involved. You see also connections coming around him, and he is constructing connections, so I am happy with that.”
