Talks between Barcelona and Manchester United appear to be progressing smoothly, with both clubs having agreed on all the written terms and conditions to bring Rashford on board.

It’s rumored that the deal is an initial 12-month loan with an option to buy. Barcelona’s inability to purchase Rashford right now is due to the club’s ongoing financial challenges, including strict salary cap restrictions and significant debt.

Joining Barcelona has always been Rashford’s childhood dream.

“Everybody in the world wants to play for the best. So hopefully, we’ll see. For Rashford, this isn’t just a transfer, it’s the chance to write the next chapter of his career at one of football’s most iconic clubs.

These past few months, Barcelona’s sporting director Deco and manager Hans Flick have both publicly expressed their admiration for Marcus Rashford.

In this loan deal, Rashford will earn £325,000 per week, with the proposed arrangement removing as much as £17 million from Manchester United’s wage bill for the 2025-2026 campaign.

According to Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano, the England star has agreed to take a 15% pay cut, with Manchester United expected to cover the remaining portion of his £12.1 million annual salary.

The loan deal includes an option to buy set at around £26 million, nearly half the £40 million fee Manchester United reportedly demanded for Rashford earlier this summer.

Rashford’s medical is scheduled soon, and a formal announcement as a Barcelona player could come as early as Tuesday.

The final straw for Rashford at Old Trafford was when Ruben Amorim told journalists in a press conference that he would “rather put his 63-year-old goalkeeper coach on and bench the forward.”

The tension between coach and player has been boiling for some time, fueled by disagreements over Rashford’s attitude, commitment, and discipline under the 40-year-old’s leadership.
