Despite swirling rumours linking four-time world champion Max Verstappen to the Silverstone-based outfit, the team have reaffirmed their commitment to their current drivers, Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll, who are both contracted for 2026.

Speculation in the paddock has also tied Mercedes’ George Russell to Aston Martin, should Verstappen make a shock move to the Brackley squad. However, Aston Martin’s focus remains firmly on their existing lineup and ambitious technical plans.

The team are gearing up for a major shift in 2026, partnering with Honda for their power units and integrating the expertise of legendary designer Adrian Newey to craft their chassis under new technical regulations.

“We’re in a fantastic position,” Cowell said during a recent media session. “We’ve got an exciting journey into 2026. We’re collaborating with Honda on the power unit, reshaping aerodynamics with Adrian Newey’s input, and building cutting-edge facilities.”

Cowell underlined the pivotal roles Alonso and Stroll play in the team’s long-term vision. “Having Lance and Fernando signed for 2026 gives us stability,” he said. “They’re not just driving; they’re shaping the tools and concepts for our future cars, from aerodynamics to the driver environment.”

The team principal also highlighted Newey’s meticulous design approach, noting, “Adrian’s designs are incredibly precise, cockpits are tight, but that’s part of the performance edge. Having our drivers locked in allows them to contribute directly to these developments.”

Recent posts on X have echoed excitement about Aston Martin’s trajectory, with fans praising the team’s bold moves in securing Newey and Honda. One user noted, “Aston Martin are building something special for 2026, Newey, Honda, and two experienced drivers. Watch out!” Another post speculated on Verstappen’s future but acknowledged Aston Martin’s settled lineup, suggesting the team are “quietly confident.”

As Aston Martin prepare for the next chapter, their immediate focus shifts to the Belgian Grand Prix, set for 44 laps around the iconic 7.004-kilometer Spa-Francorchamps circuit on July 27. Fans eagerly await the team’s performance as they lay the groundwork for their 2026 ambitions.
