England vs India 5th Test Preview

England vs India 5th Test Preview

India play a one off test against England starting on Friday morning but in effect it is the 5th and final test of the Indian Tour of England that was not completed in 2021 and that needed to be rescheduled.

Venue : Edgbaston: England vs India 5th Test Preview

The 4th largest cricket ground in England with a capacity of 24 000 spectators. Established in 1882, it is a mere 4 miles from the city centre in Birmingham and is home of Birmingham Phoenix , Birmingham Bears and Warwickshire.

The last test played here was between England and New Zealand in June 2021, in which the visitors won by 8 wickets.

The weather should be okay, with a few showers possible on Saturday according to the forecast.

Background Check: England vs India 5th Test Preview

In relation to last year’s tour by India, the first match ended in a draw with weather a determining factor; the second test went the way of India by 151 runs; the third was won by England by an innings and 76 runs whilst the last, played at The Oval, was won by 157 runs by India.

India have just come off a two consecutive T20 tournaments, one against South Africa and the most recent against Ireland. Maybe not the most ideal preparation for a match against an England team that appears rejuvenated and in good form. However, India are a class act and did win a two test series against Sri Lanka back in March, albeit in India.

More Thoughts: England vs India 5th Test Preview

Ben Stokes can hardly believe his start as England captain, having white-washed New Zealand 3-0. Sam Billings is now added to the side while Ben Foakes is out due self-isolation after catching Covid.

The strain has also affected the Indian squad with captain Rohit Sharma a possible exclusion and Ravichandran Ashwin’s arrival in the UK delayed due to the same concerns.

Betting Angle: England vs India 5th Test Preview

Ensure that you keep a good eye, once again, on the in-running markets as they were the reason my New Zealand series managed to break about square, despite going the visitors in a big way. I expect the seamers will enjoy this pitch and we may be entertained by yet another match in which the ascendancy changes hands on numerous occasions .

So, with plenty of wickets falling in mind, my first outlay will be the man of the match market and I’ll be spreading 0.5 units on the following 6 players: Jimmy Anderson, Stuart Broad and Jack Leach for England and the remaining three for India, including Jaspreet Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja .

Following on to that and sticking to the idea that this game’s momentum will shift a few times, I’m going to splash 4 units on the draw no bet market at around 11/8 or so.
