England vs Australia | Fifth Ashes Test | Thursday 27 July – Monday 31 July 2023 | The Oval, London | 12:00

England 13/10 | Draw 14/5 | Australia 13/8

Despite failing to get the win last time out, England appeared to have turned the tide of the series.

Bolstered by the return of Mark Wood, England have looked a completely different team in the field.

Moeen Ali’s veteran influence has been felt both through his performance and his presence in the squad.

Chris Woakes has quietly snuck into position to finish the series as the leading wicket-taker but might not get that much aid from the Oval pitch.

Australia’s batters should be happy to be back down south and at the relative batting paradise of the Oval.

The runs have dried up for the Australian core just a little and they will be out to hold on for the result here.

That said, Australia can always turn things around and their pace attack can be dangerous on any track.

Josh Hazlewood could be due for a rest despite bowling very well in their last outing.

Verdict: England

England should be able to square the series at The Oval.
