West Indies vs India | Third ODI | Tuesday 1 August 2023 | Brian Lara Cricket Academy, Tarouba

West Indies 13/5 | India 27/100

The bowlers took their lessons from the first ODI and put them into action in a great win that provides a much-needed boost to West Indies cricket.

The rest showed that they are still capable of competing with the best in the world on their day.

Shai Hope was once again the steady hand for the West Indies when they needed it the most and he should be the first name on every ODI team sheet.

Gudakesh Modi has also been a star of the series to date and he will need to be on song again if the West Indies are to pull off a series win.

While Ishan Kishan struck another fifty on a difficult pitch, India did not take the right approach to bat on a sluggish pitch and fell at least 50 runs short of a good score.

The West Indies bowlers pace off approach was difficult for them to handle which is a potential problem for India headed into the World Cup.

India bowled well enough but found a side better prepared for what they brought to the party.

There is little doubt that the pitch played its part in equalising matters and a better surface will favour India.

Verdict: India

India should be able to lift themselves and fight back to win the series.
