India vs Australia | WTC Final | Wednesday 7 June – Sunday 11 June 2023 | The Oval, London | 11:30

Odds TBA*

The WTC final has not come at a very good time for India, with several selection issues dogging the team. Conditions are also unlikely to suit their natural game.

Long-term injury absences are particularly impactful, with Jasprit Bumrah ruled out of the series several months ago.

Subsequent injuries to KL Rahul and Umesh Yadav have further clouded the selection picture for India ahead of a huge match.

India also faces a wicketkeeper dilemma with Ishan Kishan and KS Bharat locked in a battle to win the gloves.

Despite finishing second on the WTC table, Australia are the firm favourite, given their extensive experience in England and incredible fast bowling stocks.

Batting might be the area they have the most issues, with an unsettled top order often being bailed out by the middle order and tail.

While Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne have enjoyed county cricket stints, much of their squad could be considered a little bit underdone.

Pat Cummins will lead the attack and the team; it will be up to him to set the standard.

Verdict: Australia

Australia appears to have the edge in this one.
