South Africa vs West Indies | Second Test | Wednesday 8 March – Sunday 12 March 2023 | The Wanderers, Johannesburg |10:00

To Win
South Africa (24/100) | Draw (15/2) | West Indies (11/2)

While Aiden Markram’s return to opening the batting was a massive success, the middle order remains a problem.

South Africa’s tendency to capitulate is a grave concern for both Temba Bavuma and coach Shukri Conrad.

The Proteas have lost Anrich Nortje to injury but have not called in a replacement which makes Wiaan Mulder the man most likely to come into the XI.

Mulder will also offer the Proteas another batting option as they seek a 400 + total.

The West Indies have their own major batting problems as they failed the trial by fire in the first Test.

Alzarri Joseph enjoyed the conditions at SuperSport Park but the effort in the field also left something to be desired.

An early dropped catch cost them being competitive in the first Test and they will know that they need to be clinical.

Jermaine Blackwood has threatened to hold up the Proteas demolition of the West Indies but has lacked support from the rest of the batters.

Verdict: South Africa (24/100)

South Africa seem to have the clear upper hand.
