Amakhosi’s sole purchase this summer was striker Christian Saile from Zambian club Nchanga Rangers.

The DStv Premiership registered an interest in a number of potential signings but were ultimately “unfortunate” not to complete any more transfers.

But, if his debut performance is anything to go by, the Democratic Republic of the Congo forward certainly looks a shrewd acquisition. Saile contributed with an assist as after he came off the bench in the 2-0 win over Royal AM.

But Zwane felt the club needed to strengthen in other departments as well, and explained that a number of potential deals fell through.

The Chiefs boss said on iDiski Times: “Actually we were just unfortunate. We were trying to bring in a few players, but it didn’t materialise.

“So we had to move on and focus on what we have in terms of playing personal.”

Zwane added: “Yes, injuries are always going happen because football is a contact sport, but I wouldn’t want to look at the past and worry what about we could’ve done and what we didn’t do.

“We need to focus now on the next game and the remaining games of the season.”

Next up for Chiefs is a Nedbank Cup last-32 tie with Maritzburg United.
