Friday 13 January

1/1 Aston Villa | Draw 5/2 | Leeds United 11/4 (20:00)

I don’t think either team have played in a way (nor have the results to back it up) which suggest that we should have any confidence in them. Leeds have stuck to their quest around trying to ensure a more positive and progressive approach to their game, whilst Villa have lacked the consistency to ensure anyone really takes any notice of them. I don’t want to pick a winner – I think both teams scoring at 4/6 is the better bet.

13/8 Wolves | Draw 85/40 | West Ham 17/10 (15:00)

This should be an interesting match – and I’m glad to see the prices available reflect that accordingly. Wolves have been mightily impressive under Julen Lopetegui. They have been bold and forthright, two elements which are non-negotiables in the English league.

West Ham went through a bit of a dip, but the promise which is always shown by their squad of players doesn’t need me punting them here. That win against Brighton last time out would have been important, but they must consolidate that win now. I’m in the camp of a draw here though.

13/8 Nottingham Forest | Draw 23/10 | Leicester 13/8 (15:00)

I get rather frustrated with Forest to be honest. They blow hot and cold but take the difference between the two to an entirely new level. The confidence they displayed against Chelsea and Southampton was almost unbecoming of this team!

Leicester just haven’t been good enough this season. Granted, they have taken points from the so-called lesser teams, but they haven’t even challenged anyone of stature. It’s a tough one to call, but I like the look of a home win/draw double chance at 46/100.

11/5 Brighton | Draw 13/5 | Liverpool 11/10 (15:00)

I won’t lie to you; I am going to enjoy saying this with every fibre of my being – Brighton win this. Now, whilst that was pleasant to type to the tenth degree…nothing about Liverpool’s current performances suggest they have a chance.

Brighton have been superb this season, they have attacked everyone they have faced and done so without fear nor limitation. They have scored 14 times in their last four games, when you consider this against the fact that the Reds are without defensive cover – the home win starts to look more like a banker than a tip. Get on.

6/5 Everton | Draw 23/10 | Southampton 9/4 (15:00)

I know I’ve said this before (and it was premature then as well) but Everton look good to find themselves in the Championship. They just haven’t looked good enough and I’m not sure how that drastically improves anytime soon.

Southampton have shown their ability, but also shown their failures this year. They earned a good win against Palace last time out in the league, and I think they can consolidate that here.

5/8 Brentford | Draw 3/1 | Bournemouth 4/1 (17:30)

I can’t see past a Brentford win here, they’ve been their usual fighting selves and to be fair, Bournemouth just won’t have the impotence. Bournemouth haven’t won a game since beating Everton…absolutely nothing to run home about there and tells you all you need to know. The home win is a banker.

Sunday 15 January

13/20 Chelsea | Draw 13/5 | C Palace 21/5 (14:00)

This might be the game Graham Potter needs. He’s been through the fire with Chelsea recently and hearing the chants that rang out at the Bridge wouldn’t have helped his confidence.

Palace are going through a bit of a lull now, and even whilst Chelsea might not be their usual selves – they have enough firepower to hurt an underperforming Eagle. Get on the home win.

12/25 Newcastle | Draw 16/5 | Fulham 5/1 (14:00)

Neither side comes into this game with a horrible record, but Newcastle is having the season of their dreams. They are pushing serious football teams and beating better ones! I’m not taking anything away from Fulham, but they’ve had a reasonably easier run of fixtures leading up to this one. St James’ will be rocking, and I think the Magpies collect all three.

85/40 Tottenham | Draw 5/2 | Arsenal 11/10 (16:30)
