Austria will be looking at maximum points as well as goals when they face debutantes Northern Ireland on Monday evening. Despite losing their opening round against England by a single goal there was much to like about the Austrian’s tempo and defensive structure. I imagine they’ll look to dominate physically and clinically but might have to wait until the second half before taking control.
Northern Ireland were their own worst enemies against Norway in Round 1, conceding three goals in the first half with some awful errors and poor decisions. I feel this time the emphasis will be on defence early on but that the gaps will eventually appear and widen as the game progresses.

These two sides have also been drawn in the same group for the World Cup Qualification rounds and have met twice so far in the last 18 months, Austria won the most recent 3-1 and drew 2-2 away.

England kicked off the tournament with a win but arguably should have scored a few more if it wasn’t for the energetic defence shown by Austria. The English were fluent and highly well organised but will need to prove themselves a little more clinical in front of goal in the next two matches.
Norway had no such issues against much weaker opposition in their opening match, putting 4 past Northern Ireland. The difference in class was clearly evident as Norway bossed their way around the park in easy fashion.

A draw would potentially suit both sides here though I feel both sides will be hunting a win. England more so I would say due to the fact they’re playing at home and are joint tournament second-favourites with Spain. Their last 5 meetings dating back to 2014 have all been played in Norway, with the stats reading (2W2L1D).
I imagine England will manage a win but it will be close.
