28/03/2022 – Monday’s Best Bets and Tips

Neil Morrice outlines his best bets and tips for Monday’s British meetings at Ludlow, Hexham and Newcastle on 28/03/2022.

LUDLOW – 28/03/2022

Race 1 No3 FINEST VIEW
Trainer: Alan King – Jockey: Tom Cannon

FINEST VIEW has played second fiddle on each of her two starts over jumps and finds herself in a favourite’s position to break her duck. The Passing Glance mare faces strong competition nevertheless from Prime Time Lady and Choral Work, but should be good enough.

Race 3 No4 MIDNIGHTS LEGACY (Nap)
Trainer: Alan King – Jockey: Tom Cannon

The same trainer/jockey combo can take out this handicap hurdle with bottom weight MIDNIGHTS LEGACY. The selection gets plenty of poundage from her three foes, yet is the most likely of the quarter to show progression, as this is just a fifth career start for her.

Race 4 No4 HEAD TO THE STARS
Trainer: Henry Daly – Jockey: Hugh Nugent

HEAD FOR THE STARS, trained just a couple of miles from Ludlow at Downton Stables, went within an ace of landing a third successive Forbra Gold Cup here earlier in the month, and though in the veteran stage can confirm his liking for the course with a popular victory.

HEXHAM – 28/03/2022

Race 2 No1 INTO OVERDRIVE (Nap)
Trainer: Mr M T Walford – Jockey: Jamie Hamilton

INTO OVERDRIVE thrashed Trevelyn’s Corn at Carlisle to open his account over fences when responding positively to the addition of cheek pieces. The runner-up enjoys a handy swing in the weights, but I expect the placings to be repeated.

Race 7 No7 TOP CLOUD
Trainer: Chris Grant – Jockey: Sean Quinlan

TOP CLOUD had useful form in points, and in the colours of the late Trevor Hemmings can make it a winning debut under Rules in the concluding bumper.

NEWCASTLE – 28/03/2022

Race 4 No1 BLESS HIM (Nap)
Trainer: David Simcock – Jockey: Jamie Spencer

Spencer’s hold up riding style admirably suits BLESS HIM who that said was given too much to do when fifth in a Class 2 at Wolverhampton. He’d previously earned in a valuable race at the Dubai Carnival, and if turning in more handily can swoop to conquer.

Race 6 No6 KODEBREAKER (Each Way)
Trainer: Kevin Ryan – Jockey: Kevin Stott

Although opposed by a couple of in form rivals in Trois Vallees and Show Maker, KODEBREAKER is weighted to make life difficult for the pair on his return to the fray and first run in a handicap. The Kodi Bear gelding should leave his juvenile form some way behind in this sphere.
