11/03/2022 – Friday’s Racing Tips

Neil Morrice outlines his best bets and tips for Friday’s British meetings at Exeter, Leicester, Newcastle and Wolverhampton on 11/03/2022.

EXETER – 11/03/2022

Race 2 No4 TRELAWNE (Nap)
Trainer: Kim Bailey – Jockey: Ciaran Gethings

Although he’s the least experienced in the field of five, TRELAWNE sets a high standard for his foes to aim at. He was a hugely impressive scorer on debut last month, and as he was showing no sign of stopping the step up in trip today ought to be a help rather than a hindrance.

Race 5 No3 NO NO TONIC (Each Way)
Trainer: Mark Gillard – Jockey: Fergus Gillard

An each way play is advised on NO NO TONIC, who makes a quick reappearance under a penalty after opening her account for the season at Wincanton last week. She achieved that with blinkers added as well as a tongue tie, and goes back into battle sporting both devices against rivals that are in the main out of form.

Race 7 No7 KESTREL VALLEY (Each Way)
Trainer: Matt Sheppard – Jockey: Stan Sheppard

KESTREL VALLEY has gradually been getting her act together over fences this year, and showed her best form over this three mile trip. Another earning run looks on the cards as long as the ground doesn’t dry up too much.

LEICESTER – 11/03/2022

Race 2 No4 RADETZKY MARCH
Trainer: Laura Morgan – Jockey: Adam Wedge

RADETZKY MARCH is two from three since going down the chasing route and looked unfortunate to run into a much improved opponent when beaten by Edmond Dante’s at Market Rasen. His stable is firing out the winners, and it would be no surprise to see him bounce back and prove too strong for paper favourite First Figaro.

Race 4 No1 THE EDGAR WALLACE (Nap)
Trainer: Kim Bailey – Jockey: David Bass

THE EDGAR WALLACE impressed on chase debut at Market Rasen and on a return from a lengthy absence back in November. He’s been given plenty of time to recover from those exertions, and with his good record fresh he will be hard to beat.

NEWCASTLE – 11/03/2022

Race 1 No4 FREETHINKER
Trainer: Charlie Longsdon – Jockey: Lilly Pinchin

FREETHINKER got the job done in taking fashion in a conditional jockeys’ handicap hurdle here last month. Well supported that day, and with the same rider retained in an identical race, the six-year-old can serve up an action replay and follow-up.

Race 5 No3 GOOBINATOR (Nap)
Trainer: Donald McCain Jnr – Jockey: Brian Hughes

Returning fresh from a mid season break it will be a surprise if GOOBINATOR can’t make up for a couple of expensive defeats incurred back in November and December. The dual purpose performer had picked up successes on the Flat at York and Haydock, and might have won but for falling at Bangor on his return to hurdles.

WOLVERHAMPTON – 11/03/2022

Race 4 No2 KING OF JUNGLE
Trainer: Ed Walker – Jockey: Ross Coakley

KING OF JUNGLE skipped an engagement last week to wait for this novice stakes in which the Kempton scorer is up against 320,000 guineas purchase Clase Azul Ultra. The latter also opened his account at the Sunbury-On-Thames venue, but might have to play second fiddle to the selection, who is well regarded by his trainer.

Race 7 No2 AEGIS POWER (Nap)
Trainer: Andrew Balding – Jockey: David Probert

Nathaniel colt AEGIS POWER improved from race to race last year and gets weight from Southwell scorer Government, who is his main barrier to success in this three-year-old only handicap.
