The 2021 Lancashire Chase at Haydock, a that will see some of the Cheltenham Gold Cup hopes take their first step towards the holy grail, and what a race we have in store.
We have the 2021 Gold Cup 2nd in A Plus Tard installed as 11/8 favourite, with three-time winner of this feature, Bristol De Mai, back to his favourite stomping ground as he aims to defend his title. But this is far from a two horse race.
Waiting Patiently is having his first run for the in for Christian William, but he will need to up is form to claim his first win since 2018.
Royale Pagaille, who is 2/2 at Haydock, would be a huge danger if the ground ended up gets softer than forecasted. But even with good ground, cannot be discounted at a track that he acts so well around.
Can A Plus Tard buck his trend and win first time out, or will Bristol De Mai gallop his rivals into submission? Or will we be in for an upset in the first real test for the Gold Cup hopefuls?
Ascot Hurdle Preview – Andrew Halligan
This year’s Ascot Hurdle looks a very interesting one on paper with the hugely talented enigma that is Goshen looking set to make his seasonal debut under Hollywoodbets’ very own Jamie Moore.
With that said he will not have it all his own way as recent Cesarewitch winner, and this season’s hype horse for the Stayers’ Hurdle, Buzz is also entered to take him on.
But at 6/4 there is not much value in Buzz. We look at Goshen and he is either going to win by 10L or put in a below par run, but at 7/2 it is a price I would be willing to take a chance on, as if a behaved Goshen turns up he wins this hands down.
On paper this looks a match race but it would be foolish to discount last year winner Song For Someone. Yes he won a below par renewal, but with question to be answered by the top two in the market it might be worth having a small wager on the defending champion who goes well when fresh.
