Neil Morrice provides us with his best bets and tips for Wednesday’s racing at Ffos Las, Hexham and Warwick.
FFOS LAS – 17/11/2021
Race 3 No3 GRIS GRIS TOP (Nap)
Trainer: Michael Scudamore – Jockey: Richard Patrick
The fact that GRIS GRIS TOP gained experience over jumps when placed at this course on his seasonal return gives the grey plenty to recommend him in this maiden hurdle. He will be sharper for that, and looks sure to be in the shake-up at the very least.
Race 4 No2 NADA TO PRADA
Trainer: Michael Scudamore – Jockey: Richard Patrick
From the same stable, NADA TO PRADA can triumph on handicap debut on only her second outing over fences. Her form to chase home Little River Bay at Worcester was endorsed when the winner followed-up at Uttoxeter, while a recent wind operation on the mare appears to be working.
Race 5 No1 FAIRE PART SIVOLA
Trainer: Harry Whittington – Jockey: Daryl Jacob
Up 6lb for a clear cut success here last month, FAIRE PART SIVOLA can keep up the good work as he moves up the distance ladder under top weight in this handicap hurdle. That was his first outing since undergoing a second wind operation, and the gelding should enjoy the step up before his trainer considers putting him back over fences.
HEXHAM – 17/11/2021
Race 7 No4 GOLAN CLOUD (Nap)
Trainer: Jennie Candlish – Jockey: Sean Quinlan
GOLAN CLOUD has twice won on his return from a break which speaks favourably of him for this return to the fray. He’s been an inconspicuous visitor to the racecourse over the past 20 months, but those efforts have seen him go 1231. All but one of his rivals have been badly out of form, and if running to his ability he should oblige.
WARWICK – 17/11/2021
Race 1 No4 HARTUR D’OUDARIES
Trainer: Dan Skelton – Jockey: Harry Skelton
It was inevitable that owner JP McManus would want to embrace Skelton in his trainer spectrum, and in impressive French bumper scorer HARTUR D’OUDARIES he’s handed him a horse with substantial potential. The four-year-old faces 14 rivals for his jumps debut but can give favourite backers a good start to the day.
Race 4 No2 EDWARDSTONE (Nap)
Trainer: Alan King – Jockey: Tom Cannon
EDWARDSTONE carries the best bet tag into this novices’ chase as a horse that is very unlucky not to have won both his previous starts over fences. He took a soft exit at Doncaster last December, and after returning to hurdling was brought down three out here when seeming to have his foes stone cold earlier this month. None the worse for that spill, he can put the record straight as a horse that could yet take high order amongst this season’s novice chasers.
Race 6 No4 SIR IVAN (Each Way)
Trainer: Harry Fry – Jockey: Sam Twiston-Davies
This course should bring out the best in spring heeled jumper SIR IVAN. The eleven-year-old landed a similar contest at Newbury in March and ran well at Aintree and again on his return at Chepstow, each time taking home another cheque. He measures his fences with pinpoint accuracy, and as he takes a run to get fit his recent outing should have blown away any cobwebs.
