Referring to the horses he feels have the best chances of taking home a cheque, Muscutt is delighted to team up with Daniel and Claire Kubler on ANDALEEP in Race 2, the mile and a quarter handicap.
He reasons: “It looked like the mile and a half stretched his stamina at Windsor even though he’d scored over a similar distance in an amateur riders’ race at the same course.
“He’d won three on the bounce before his recent run, and the step back to a mile and a quarter will hopefully prove ideal.”
Daniel could be on race favourite when partnering the Charlie Hills-trained top weight MENAI BRIDGE in Race 3, the mile handicap.
He rode the Cable Bay filly into second at Lingfield two runs back, before she went one better at Newcastle.
He added: “I was pleased with her at Lingfield, and having scored over tonight’s course and distance last time she is obviously a big player. I wish to offer a big vote of thanks to Charlie, whose been a great supporter of our Racing League team London And The South.”
In Race 4 which is a seven furlongs handicap Daniel takes the reins on another top weight STREET KID, for one of his allies Kevin Philippart De Foy.
He continues: “I’ve ridden him a few times and he was coming off a long break when we were beaten in a photo at Lingfield last month.
He was one of the horses that was supposed to run at Southwell last Thursday, but owing to the very sad news about Her Majesty is now switched here.
“This is one of the most competitive races on the card, but he needs to come on from that first outing of the year if he’s to be a player.”
In Race 6 Daniel looks forward to teaming up with the Mike Murphy-trained TEMPLE BRUER who seeks a third win in his last four starts from near the base of the weights.
He observes: “This horse goes to post in good form and escaped a penalty for his Doncaster success last week. I’m hopeful of a big run from him.”
Looking towards the weekend, Daniel looks to the James Fanshawe-trained WANDERING ROCKS as perhaps his best chance from four rides at Newbury on Friday.
He concludes: “He’s by Ulysses who is one of the go-to sites, and ran a cracker on handicap debut at Kempton. I’m hoping he will be competitive.”
