Andrew Halligan – 2022 Dante Festival Day 2 Best Bets

2022 Dante Festival Day 2 – Andrew runs us through his best bets for the 2022 Dante Festival Day 2 at York Racecourse.

After the wow factor of Emily Upjohn yesterday it’s the turn of the colts in the Dante to put their Derby credentials on the line.

York 14:45 – Group 2 1m2f |Middleton Fillies Stakes – 2022 Dante Festival Day 2

We start with a good fillies Group 2 with cases that can be made for all the field, but I see this going back to Ireland.

THUNDER KISS came back with a bang this season with a romp in a Listed race at Cork over 1m4f.

Drops back in trip today which should be a problem on a track like York where extra stamina reserves are never a bad thing. Even going on last season’s form she was a Listed and Group 3 winner with her defeat biggest defeat being 5L and the remaining defeats being a NK, NK, and ½L.

She strikes me as a filly that will thrive again this season and should take a lot of beating if the ground doesn’t turn too quick, she looks a huge player at 11/4.

York 17:20 – 2m Handicap– 2022 Dante Festival Day 2

This is a very strong selection to round off what should be a great day’s racing and that is the Nicky Henderson trained AHORSEWITHNONAME.

It was only in March we saw her finishing 2nd in the Mares Novice Hurdle at 50/1 and then was switched to the flat when she was heavily backed into 10/11 at Newbury.

The thing that I liked about her at Newbury was she still looked green when Ryan Moore went through the gears on her and it was only late on where we saw her use her full stride and go onto the battle with the runner up.

Has been put up 6lb for that win but there should be a lot more to come from this mare, and a 7/4 she looks a rock-solid pick here.
